OX is a start-up automotive company with a difference; we are targeting the ~3 billion people in developing countries who have never bought a vehicle, new or used.
Our strategy is to deliver clean, affordable transport in emerging markets, driving a self-reinforcing cycle of economic growth and social impact. We will do this by implementing a “mobility-as-a-service” strategy using our unique electric OX truck.
You will be part of the OX engineering team, collaboratively designing, building and testing hardware that helps us deliver our logistics service.
At OX, we work in Agile Scrum teams. This underpins a culture of trust, flexibility, and teamwork. The flat structure at OX means teams can deliver without the need for senior sign-off!
We want to create a team with the following values:
Being a start-up business means things can change quickly, which drives uncertainty, so you must consider this before applying. We expect our teams to be able to adapt and respond to different types of work, broadening your experience. We know start-up environments aren’t for everyone!
OX is developing a unique electric truck for MaaS operations using a fully Agile development strategy - this means rethinking conventional engineering systems & methodologies.
Since the engineering team started work 10 months ago, we have designed and built the first iteration of the electric OX Truck. By overcoming numerous challenges along the way, we have delivered a truck that proves the electric powertrain concept! As a cross-functional team, we will build on this success and continue to improve the truck. We have ambitious plans in the next year continue to improve the OX truck, enabling us to build faster, at lower cost.
We're recruiting for a range of engineering skills. You'll take an active role within one of OX's engineering scrum teams working throughout the design process. One week you could be developing targets and modeling, the next designing in CAD, the next getting your hands dirty installing the parts before heading out to test them. You will work with your colleagues and our partners to make the right decisions to deliver fantastic engineering. There isn’t a lengthy approval process, instead, you and your team agree on what works.
Knowledge required for the role:
Over the next few years we need to develop the OX truck, our manufacturing, service and maintenance capability and technology to enable our logistics service to operate efficiently.
We expect an apprenticeship or degree. You might have lots or little experience, be an automotive expert or complete novice. What we are looking for is people who have the talents we recruit for and are motivated by our mission to bring clean, affordable transport to emerging markets.
Talents* valued at OX:
*talents are recurring patterns of thought, feeling, or behaviour that you exhibit day-by-day, rather than a learned skill.
